The underwater kingdom of the small explorer
Oskar’s pool
White-throated dippers are the only singing birds that can dive and swim. They even walk on rocks under running water, using their strong legs and claws. Listen to the audio clip.

Have you ever noticed a bird that walks beneath the water’s surface?
The Radovna River hides many secrets, but one of the most unusual is certainly a small bird – the white-throated dipper. Compared to other songbirds, the white-throated dipper continues its adventures under the water’s surface, in addition to its usual flight through the air. But it only does this if the water is crystal clear.
Therefore, you can be sure that the Radovna is a very clean river. Look closely into the water – you might spot a tiny fish called a bullfish, which also loves the running water.
Highlight: have you noticed the old hydroelectric power plant under the big stone bridge?
