The free shuttle bus leaves from the main bus station every hour, on the hour. Visitors arriving by car can choose one of the two official VINTGAR car parks. 3.

BUY A DIGITAL TICKET ONLINE

The best time to visit Vintgar Gorge is in the early morning or late afternoon, not just because the light is best then, but in order to avoid the crowd and enjoy one of the most beautiful gorges in the world in peace. Because we want to make sure you have the safest and highest quality experience possible, while at the same time safeguarding this precious natural environment, we have limited the number of visitors who can enter the gorge each day. To ensure that you will be able to visit Vintgar Gorge, we recommend booking a time slot and purchasing a digital ticket online. If you miss your time slot or arrive at the VINTGAR Visitor Centre without a digital ticket, you will have to wait for a free space.

Purchase of tickets
Important
  • Buy an online ticket to reserve a time slot for your visit.

  • Early morning and late afternoon are the best time for a visit.

4.

ALLOW YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME FOR VINTGARING

Both our “Vintgaring” experiences (Vintgaring in the Alps and Vintgaring in the Woods), which combine a visit to Vintgar Gorge with a themed trail through the Triglav National Park that brings you back to the
VINTGAR Visitor Centre, require at least 3 hours (or 2.5 hours for the shorter variant). If you follow the audio guide and take time to explore and rest, the experience can last up to half a day or even longer. To complete the day, you can also plan additional sightseeing and activities in Gorje, the area where Vintgar is located. Carefully plan your arrival time so as not to miss your booked time slot and then return at your own pace to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre / VINTGAR Shuttle Terminal.

Important
  • Allow at least three hours for Vintgaring in the Alps or Vintgaring in the Woods to explore Vintgar Gorge and the surrounding area.

  • It is essential to get to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre in good time.

  • If you wish to shorten your visit by around one hour, head towards the VINTGAR Blejska Dobrava Car Park after leaving Vintgar Gorge.

5.

CHOOSE YOUR THEMED VINTGARING TRAIL – IN THE ALPS OR IN THE WOODS

Which sounds more tempting: Vintgaring in the Alps or Vintgaring in the Woods? Each of them will complement your experience of Vintgar Gorge with an exploration of the Triglav National Park – to which Vintgar Gorge offers the easiest access.
Part of the one-way trail through Vintgar Gorge (total length: 1,600 metres) runs over wooden bridges and walkways fixed to the living rock. It will take you roughly 45 minutes to walk through the gorge. At the exit from the gorge, by the Šum Falls, choose one of the two themed trails that will lead you back to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre while introducing you to the various sights and stories presented in the audio guide. We recommend finding out more about the themed trails before you get here.

Important
  • Vintgaring in the Alps with the King of Triglav Trail is a trail through the Alpine cultural landscape with an insight into history and the traditions of pastoralism. It is a sunnier trail, ideal in the morning or late afternoon.

  • Vintgaring in the Woods with the River of Trees Trail is a forest trail along which you will discover an extraordinary variety of protected flora and fauna. It is a shorter, shadier trail, ideal for the middle of the day.
