How to get here

You can reach Vintgar Gorge by car, public transport, motorcycle, on foot, or by bike from nearby Bled. Parking for cars is not available directly at the gorge, so transportation is provided by the VINTGAR Shuttle, operating from official  parking area VINTGAR LIP and the Central Bled Bus Station. Only bicycles and motorcycles can be parked directly at the VINTGAR Visitor Centre.

FREE Official VINTGAR Parking Lot

Central Parking VINTGAR LIP (1)

  • This is the central and only official VINTGAR parking area, operating as the VINTGAR HUB, where visitors can purchase tickets and receive information. It also offers shaded waiting areas, restrooms, and the option to buy refreshments.
  • The VINTGAR LIP Parking is the only physical point of sale for tickets; however, we recommend purchasing online in advance, as this guarantees your selected time slot and entry without waiting.
  • The VINTGAR Shuttle e-bus departs from here approximately every 7 minutes to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre.
  • Parking is limited to 4 hours and is included in the price of the Vintgar Gorge Visit and Experience Ticket. Any other parking areas that may be available nearby are not official VINTGAR parking areas and are subject to payment.

Please arrive at the parking area in good time – at least 40 minutes before your selected time slot – to ensure you comfortably catch your reserved entry to the Vintgar Gorge.

From Ljubljana

The easiest route is via the highway, exiting at Lesce–Bled and continuing towards Bled and Spodnje Gorje. Park at Vintgar Gorge Central parking LIP.

From Bled

Vintgar Gorge is just 4 km away towards Zgornje Gorje. Park at Vintgar Gorge Central parking LIP.

From Austria / Kranjska Gora – Jesenice

The best access is via the highway, exiting at Lesce-Bled and continuing towards Bled and Spodnje Gorje. Park at Vintgar Gorge Central parking LIP.

From Bled

From Bled, head towards Podhom. Follow the asphalt road through Blate until you reach the village of Podhom. After passing under the railway underpass, continue straight. At the information board and drinking fountain, follow the path toward the village center. At the intersection by the Chapel of Mary, continue uphill on the sidewalk. At the top of the hill, enjoy the view of Bled Castle before continuing straight. At the fork, keep right, passing the memorialto Anton Belar. From there, descend to the river, cross the bridge, and continue straight to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre.

From Bled

The Vintgar Gorge is approximately 4 km from Bled, which takes around 50 minutes on foot. The route is signposted for pedestrians, with some designated walking paths and pedestrian lanes along the way. In Gorje and Podhom, newly built sidewalks provide a safer walking experience. From Bled, head towards Podhom via Blate, following the asphalt road. After passing under the railway underpass, continue straight. At the information board and drinking fountain, go straight instead of turning toward the village center. At the end of the gravel footpath, turn right towards the intersection at the Chapel of Mary, then continue uphill on the sidewalk. At the top of the hill, enjoy a view of Bled Castle before continuing straight. At the fork, keep right, passing the memorial to Anton Belar. From there, descend to the river, cross the bridge, and continue straight to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre

FROM BLED

Head towards Gorje. After reaching Spodnje Gorje, turn right towards Jesenice just past the bus stop. Follow the main road through the village, and at the Jesenice–Podhom junction, turn towards Podhom, following the signs for Vintgar Gorge. Parking for Vintgar Gorge visitors is free.

From Jesenice–Kranjska Gora

If coming from Kranjska Gora or Jesenice, head towards Spodnje Gorje. In Spodnje Gorje, follow the signs for Vintgar Gorge or Podhom. Motorcycle parking is available directly near the VINTGAR Visitor Centre (Podhom 80). Parking for Vintgar Gorge visitors is free.

From Ljubljana

Take the highway towards Jesenice and exit at Lesce–Bled. Continue towards Bled, then follow the signs for Vintgar Gorge. Motorcycle parking is available directly near the VINTGAR Visitor Centre (Podhom 80). Parking for Vintgar Gorge visitors is free.

From Bled to VINTGAR Visitor Centre

If you are traveling to Vintgar Gorge by public bus, exit at the Central Bled Bus Station, located near Bled Rose Hotel. From there, the regular electric VINTGAR Shuttle drives every 15 minutes to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre.

DISEMBARK AT PODHOM STATION

For train travel to Vintgar Gorge, we recommend getting off at Podhom Station, the closest train stop to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre. From there, you can take a scenic walk to the gorge.
You can reach Podhom Station by train from: Jesenice (Jesenice–Nova Gorica line) or from Bled Jezero (Nova Gorica–Jesenice line). From Podhom Station, follow the path through the idyllic village of Podhom, passing the Fire Station, until you reach the Chapel of Mary intersection. Continue uphill on the sidewalk, where you can enjoy a stunning view of Bled Castle at the top. Follow the road straight, keep right at the fork, passing the monument to Anton Belar. From there, descend to the river, cross the bridge, and continue straight to the VINTGAR Visitor Centre.

To make your experience of visiting the Vintgar Gorge as good as possible, we have developed a 5-step visit process.

How to get here

There are several ways to get to Vintgar Gorge – by car or public transport, or even on foot or by bike if you are coming from Bled. Choose the one that suits you best and carefully plan your arrival time.

Vintgar Shuttle e-bus

To enhance the visitor experience and foster greater respect for the natural environment, we have relocated the parking area (the official, free Central VINTGAR LIP Parking – P1, which operates as the main VINTGAR HUB) to the outskirts and introduced the VINTGAR Shuttle e-bus, ensuring an organised, environmentally friendly, and simple access to the Vintgar Gorge.

VINTGAR Visitor Centre

Before entering Vintgar Gorge, stop by the VINTGAR Visitor Centre, where you can get all the necessary information for a safe and enjoyable visit. The centre also offers a rest area and a selection of locally inspired food and drinks. Vintgar Gorge All-in-One Pass cannot be purchased here.

VINTGAR GORGE ALL-IN-ONE PASS PRICES & SALES

To avoid waiting, we recommend purchasing your digital pass online in advance. The Vintgar Gorge All-in-One Pass cannot be purchased at the VINTGAR Visitor Centre. If you arrive without a digital Vintgar Gorge All-in-One Pass, you can purchase it exclusively at the Central VINTGAR LIP Parking (P1 – operating as a VINTGAR HUB).

Opening times

The Vintgar Gorge is open to visitors between April and October. Check the exact opening hours, as the hours change with the seasons and weather conditions.
